Tom and Ravenna Osgood:
Our Place

form & concept | April 2023

In Our Place: to the moon and back on a rocketship from Rome, two new bodies of work from father-daughter duo Tom and Ravenna Osgood merge to transport viewers to a shared psychic space of creative connectivity and ultimate freedom. The show is a memorial, following Tom’s death in January 2023.

Our Place celebrates the legacy of a remarkable artist, father and friend; known for his formal explorations in steel and expressive seabed paintings, Tom’s final body of work includes assemblages made in the process of carrying out a long-term construction project begun in 2016. His daughter, Ravenna Osgood, contributes sculptural works, design objects and illustrations that explore her relationship with her late father and the formative memories that they share.

“I think of the art that we do as an archaeological dig,” said Tom. “We’re digging into ourselves, into a physical space, into our emotions. I’ve always thought about art that way, and I think that Ravenna echoes that process.”

Project

Ravenna Osgood designed a formidable catalog for Our Place, which layers imagery and artwork from both artists’ lives in the style of a scrapbook.
